FEAR and the negative reaction it causes to your body Fear and anxiety puts your body into a poisonous state of stress. When you are stressed, there are high levels of the stress hormone Cortisol, in your body. Fear, stress and anxiety are all common habits that we all so often allow to be part of our lifestyles. But, be cautious. Too much Cortisol causes a compromised immune system. When the stress hormone cortisol is present in the body, at elevated levels for a long time, it kills the cells of your immune system and prevents the production of new cells. Your immune system is then weakened and when you are then exposed to bacteria, viruses, fungus and parasites within the environment, your body will not be able to stop the infection. In Philippians 4:6 Paul says that we should be anxious for nothing. In the Amplified Bible we read in Hebrew 13, verses 5 – 6 - “…God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] In any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (Relax My hold on you!) (Assuredly not)! So, we can take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, That Lord is my Helper, I will not be seized with alarm (I will not fear or dread or be terrified). What can man do to me?” Take this promise from God Himself and make it your own. Thank Him for His peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)
